Meet Charlotte

Allow Us to Introduce You to Our Fur Baby

Before Charlotte came into our lives, our story looked a little different than the one we had imagined.

For years, we thought our future would include a house full of kids, chaos, snacks, laundry, and probably a minivan we swore we’d never drive. But life had other plans, and after learning that having children wasn’t going to be part of our story, we had to grieve the family we thought we’d have and slowly make peace with a different kind of future.

For a long time, a dog didn’t feel fair to bring into our lives.  We were living in our condo, working constantly, and our home just wasn’t set up for a pup to have the space, time, and attention they deserved.

Then we bought our new home.  And after a few months, we realized something felt missing.  The house was bigger, quieter, and somehow the empty spaces felt louder than they ever had before.

That's when Jenn's therapist asked if we had ever discussed having a pet - particularly a dog.

We had no idea that one little dog could bring so much comedy, chaos, snoring, zoomies, side-eye, and unconditional love into a home.

How Charlotte Found Us

We talked about getting a dog and if we were truly ready - and we decided the time was finally right!  So, of course, Jenn hopped on the local rescue and Humane Society websites looking for a furry friend.  We had a few leads from friends on pups that needed re-homing, but those didn't work out... and honestly they weren't meant to!

While scrolling through the Anderson County Humane Society website, this sweet, fluffy little face popped up.  She was the right size and looked young - which was exactly what we had on our checklist.

The icing on the cake - her name was Charlotte!

Jenn was incredibly close to her grandmother, who everyone knew as Mamaw, but whose name was Charlotte.

We put in the application and waited patiently for a call or email.  No response.  Jenn got impatient (no surprise) so we decided to go to the Humane Society and make sure they received our application.  Someone else had requested Charlotte before us, and she was coming to meet her and another pup that evening.  But, since we were already there, they let Jenn meet Charlotte.  She was WIDE open, hyper and jumping all over the place.   During the few minutes she would sit still, she gave Jenn some love and let her pet her (and give a few belly rubs).  Jenn fell in love - and was praying the person coming that evening would pass on her...

The phone rang around 6:45 pm and the kind lady from the Humane Society gave us the good news - Charlotte was ours!  We went to pick her up the next day and the minute she got in our car, her entire demeanor changed.  She was calm, gave us kisses and sat in Jenn's lap the entire ride home.

Charlotte keeps us laughing (she's a little clumsy) and has filled our hearts - and home - with so much love and joy!

We know she was meant to be our fur-baby... and we're forever grateful for her.

We can’t wait to share more of Charlotte’s little life with you, from beach trips and treat taste-tests to cozy naps and clumsy moments. And, of course, all the love she brings to our home.
